At Tender Healthcare Services Ireland, our Healthcare Assistants (HCAs) are at the heart of everything we do. They are more than just care providers they are compassionate companions, skilled professionals, and trusted allies in promoting health, dignity, and independence for those we support.

Every day, our HCAs make a real difference in the lives of older people, children, people with disabilities, and those with complex care needs. Whether in a home care setting, a residential facility, or community-based service, they carry out their duties with empathy, respect, and professionalism.

What Our Healthcare Assistants Do

  • Assist with personal care such as bathing, dressing, and grooming
  • Support mobility, exercise routines, and rehabilitation goals

  • Provide help with meals, nutrition, and hydration

  • Administer or assist with medication in line with care plans

  • Offer companionship and emotional support to reduce loneliness

  • Monitor health and report concerns to senior care staff

  • Maintain a safe, clean, and comfortable environment

Compliance & Recruitment Process

The Recruitment Process: Step-by-Step

All candidates must apply through our official job advertisements published online. Once a candidate’s application is received, it is reviewed against the specific criteria for the role. If shortlisted, the candidate will be contacted by phone or email to arrange an interview.

Successful candidates who pass the interview will then be invited to submit their compliance documentation. This is a crucial part of the hiring process, as it allows us to assess their eligibility, qualifications, and readiness to work within regulated care environments. Only candidates who meet all compliance requirements will be considered for onward processing and approval.

Compliance Documents Required Before Starting Work

We request the following documentation from all successful applicants:

  • Up-to-date CV with no gaps in employment, clearly formatted in month/year.

  • Passport (EU/Irish citizens only need their passport; non-EU candidates must also include a valid Residence Permit card and letter).

  • Proof of Address using one of the following: bank statement, Revenue letter, or electricity bill.

  • QQI Certificate and Transcript – Mandatory for anyone working in healthcare or social care.

  • Children First Certificates – Both “Introduction to Children First” and “Implementing Children First” must be provided.

  • First Aid Certificate – Must be PHECC-approved and completed in-person (online versions are not accepted).

  • Fire Safety Certificate – Physical course only; online versions are not accepted.

  • Data Protection Training Certificate

  • PMAV Certificate – Prevention and Management of Aggression and Violence.

  • Medication Management Certificate

  • Child Sexual Exploitation Awareness Training Certificate

  • Garda Vetting Form – Provided by Tender Healthcare and completed as part of onboarding.

  • Overseas Police Certificate – Required if the applicant has lived in another country for more than two months.

  • Three References – Must include contact emails, with one being the most recent employer.

Once all documents are received, we submit them to TUSLA for final approval. Only after we receive this approval can a candidate officially begin working with us.
